2014 Executive Election Results

Nov 30, 2013

Phi Lambda Theta held its executive and committee chair elections on the 10th and 17th of November. The elections were a marathon event as they took a total of seven hours on the 10th and five on the 17th. It has been a lengthy process in the past but is of utmost importance to the success of the chapter. All terms will begin in January and will continue until the end of 2014 Fall Semester.

The executive election this year was especially involved, due to a total of three candidates running for Alpha and an additional five running for Beta. The chapter elected Chris Cappecci‘15 to take up the challenge of being president and Brett Walter ‘15 to the role of vice president. With the experience and creativity these two bring to the table, the chapter is excited to see what they can bring to the positions. The remaining executive elections were almost as highly contested as the two mentioned previously. After much deliberation, the chapter chose Zac Westdyke ‘15 as Gamma, Paul Hook ’15 as Delta, and George Green ‘16 as the epsilon. The new head of the brotherhood board will be Geoff Shanley ’16, the new Zeta will be Tyler Gorelick ’16, the new Eta will be Akash Shah ’16, and the new Pi will be Aiden Leary ‘16.

The weekend following the executive board elections, the Phi Lambda Theta chapter of Chi Phi held elections for many of the committee chairs. Again, due to the increased interest from the actives in getting involved within the Chapter, the brothers deliberated for several hours until all of the positions had been decided. Of all of the open spots, a strong majority of positions were filled by newly initiated brothers, showing an excellent future for leadership within the sophomore class.

The chapter would also like to congratulate JT Engels ’15 on being elected President of the Interfraternity Council at Bucknell. While Phi Lambda Theta has had executive members on IFC previously, holding the presidential position will allow the chapter to maintain its bond with Bucknell administration and the community. We know JT will bring a new dimension to the position and lead the entire fraternity system to new height while representing the ideals of the Phi Lambda Theta chapter of Chi Phi.

While the process can be long and arduous, the process is of great importance and is rewarding to the chapter at the end. The Phi Lambda Theta chapter hopes to continue its pursuit of greatness with its newly elected leaders.
